Vikings running back Dalvin Cook earned his first career selection to the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) All-NFL Team and his second consecutive selection to the All-NFC Team, the PFWA announced Monday.
Cook is the only Viking to make either of the prestigious lists that are voted on my members of the PFWA.
The fourth-year pro showed why the Vikings signed him to a contract extension just before the season started by dazzling throughout the campaign. Cook set career highs for rushes (312), rushing yards (1,557), rushing touchdowns (16), yards per rush (5.0), rush yards per game (111.2) and scrimmage yards (1,918) despite missing a game-and-a-half with a groin injury and Minnesota's 2020 finale while he grieved the unexpected death of his father.
Cook's rushing yards, rushing scores and scrimmage yards all ranked second this season to Derrick Henry, who is the other running back selected to the PFWA's All-NFL Team.
His rushing yardage is the third-most by a Viking in a season, and his scores on the ground are the second-most behind the 18 by Adrian Peterson in 2009.
