BLAST and Fortnite are teaming for a third straight year to hold the 2023 Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS), with players competing for a combined prize pool of $10 million.
The series will include three major tournaments en route to the Global Championship, set for late this year in Copenhagen, Denmark. The biggest prize pool -- $4 million -- will be available at the final tournament.
The first major concluded this month, with 14 teams qualifying for the Global Championship. Major Two (April and May) and Major Three (July and August) will deliver more contenders for the championship.
The partnership between BLAST and Fortnite dates to the FNCS All-Star Showdown and FNCS Grand Royale events in 2021.
"Extending and expanding the BLAST and Competitive Fortnite partnership into a third year is testament to the brilliant progress that has been made with FNCS over the last few years," said Leo Matlock, the managing director of development at BLAST. "We are really proud of the journey we've been on with the Competitive Fortnite team and how we have been able to support them in elevating the FNCS fan experience by focusing on player-led storylines and fan-first production techniques."
The players from North America and Europe will participate remotely, with the competition produced and broadcast from BLAST's studios in Copenhagen.
