BEIJING, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson on Tuesday said the United States should stop depriving the Cuban people of their rights to subsistence and development.
Spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks in response to a media query that the Cuban government has denounced the U.S. side that was reportedly considering intensifying its illegal blockade against Cuba.
China is deeply concerned about and opposes the actions of the U.S. side, and urges it to stop disrupting regional peace and stability, cease violating international law, and immediately lift its blockade and sanctions on Cuba, Guo said.
"China will continue to do what it can to provide assistance and support to Cuba. We're confident that under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba and the government of Cuba, Cuban people will surely tide over the current difficulty," he said.
