SEATTLE, WA / ACCESS Newswire / June 10, 2026 / The Chinatown-International District Business Improvement Area (CIDBIA) and the Wing Luke Museum announced a first-ever partnership to create the CID Summer Kickoff, a free, day-long community celebration of AANHPI art, food and culture, just in time for the upcoming international men's soccer matches in Seattle.
The culturally rich celebration kicks off with an unprecedented attempt at a 1,000-person dim sum eating global record, followed by the Wing Luke Museum's beloved JamFest art and culture festival, and ending with the CIDBIA's iconic CID Block Party. The extended celebration and activities take place June 18 from 3 to 9 pm and spans four blocks in the neighborhood from King Street and 8th Ave. to Weller Street and Maynard Ave.
Attendees can look forward to a diverse lineup of performances, featuring local Asian American artists, as well as a marketplace showcasing over 40 vendors, food trucks, arts and crafts and more activities. An itinerary of the full day's activities can be found here.
Leadership from both organizations believe the event is well positioned to showcase the historic neighborhood to international visitors and locals alike while exploring the many sights, sounds and tastes that Seattle has to offer this summer.
'The Chinatown-International District is a vibrant neighborhood,' said CIDBIA Executive Director Tuyen Than and Wing Luke Museum Executive Director Chrissy Shimizu, in a joint statement. 'The warmer weather, longer days reawakens the neighborhood, which offers so many unique, rich experiences. The goal of both of these events together is to connect communities and celebrate AANHPI joy and togetherness. We are excited that the CID Summer Kickoff! launches us into the summer season and we encourage visitors to come by and stay a while.'
JamFest, an annual community celebration, is the Wing Luke Museum's free community arts, culture and music event with live performances, hands on activities and more. The CID Block Party, a beloved free community street festival, is back for its sixth year showcasing music, art, food, and community spirit. Attendance is expected to be more than a thousand people throughout the afternoon.
While visiting the neighborhood, attendees are encouraged to take in the other sights and sounds of the CID, by enjoying authentic dim sum, Thai street food, hot pot, ramen, and more at 100+ restaurants, perusing various unique gift shops, strolling through Uwajimaya, one of the premier Asian grocery and gift retailer in the Pacific Northwest and taking in powerful exhibits at the Wing Luke Museum, the only pan-Asian Museum in the country (and winner of USAToday's 10Best Museums for 2026). 'I've seen firsthand how hard this community works to keep this neighborhood alive and thriving,' said Than. 'The food, the culture, the people - there's nothing else like it in Seattle. Come for the event, come back for seconds.'
