Since it launched its full-scale invasion, Russia has captured theZaporizhzhya nuclear power plantand the now-destroyedKakhovka hydroelectric power station-- two of Ukraine's largest electricity-generating facilities. It has also forced the Dnieper hydroelectric power station to shut down by bombing it.
US PresidentDonald Trump has suggestedthat the United States take ownership of Ukraine's power plants, saying it "would be the best protection for that infrastructure."
