Former U.S. Open champion Bianca Andreescu of Canada went the distance to secure her first win in eight months, beating Hungary's Dalma Galfi 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 on Tuesday at the Credit One Charleston Open in South Carolina.
Andreescu, who's dropped to 140th in the world rankings since hurting her ankle at her national open in Montreal last summer, had lost her first four tour-level matches of 2026 as she attempted to come back. On Tuesday, she saved 5 of 8 break points and fired four aces past Galfi.
No. 3 seed Belinda Bencic of Switzerland battled past Ukraine's Dayana Yastremska 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-3. Russian No. 8 seed Anna Kalinskaya beat Bulgaria's Viktoriya Tomova 6-2, 6-4, while Czech 13th seed Sara Bejlek beat American hopeful Akasha Urhobo 6-1, 6-1. Other winners included Uzbekistan's Polina Kudermetova, Spaniard Paula Badosa, Yue Yuan of China, Yuliia Starodubtseva of Ukraine and American Ashlyn Krueger.
The final match of the night will pit No. 7 seed Diana Shnaider of Russia against American Katie Volynets.
